The game continues the storyline where Anomaly: Warzone Earth and Anomaly: Korea ended. In the year 2018,  humanity won the battle against the alien race called the Machines. 3 years later, they came back and wiped humanity off the planet. Only a scattered few managed to escape.

It is now 2034, humanity fights to take back Earth with the most advanced hardware they have: heavily armored vehicles equipped with morphing technology. They're led by commanders wearing Combat Suits - the biggest military breakthrough since the invention of gun.

Humanity have only one chance left to send these Machines packing. It it won't be easy as they defend their positions with powerful defense towers that multiply through a vast network of spawn stations. It's going to be a rough road ahead..

In Anomaly 2, players will play as First Lieutenant Simon Lynx - Commander of Yukon's Armored Vehicle squad. Their mission is to use humanity's greatest weapon against the Machines - Project Shockwave. In the year 2028,  a desperate mission to recover crucial data about Project Shockwave was conducted by General Roberts, executed by Captain Poise and 14th Platoon. The mission succeeded, but humans paid a high price - Captain Poise and 14th Platoon were both KIA.

It is now 2034, Convoy Yukon heads to New York to rescue Doctor Claus Zander - a scientist in pocession of Project Shockwave. First Lieutenant Simon Lynx gets a chance to hone his skills in the MCS unit. Convoy Yukon is ambushed by the Machines on a frozen highway, Lynx was pulled out of the burning wrecks just in time. During the counter attack, Sergeant Clint Campton was found.

Convoy Yukon blasts its way to Doctor Claus Zander, but without his 2 research assistants, Project Shockwave is temporarily halted. Finally, they need a super-computer to process Project Shockwave's decrypted data at the center of New York - called the Cequel. Here, after defending the Cequel against waves of Machines, the data can now be used.

To broadcast the signal, humans need a giant antenna only present in Rio De Janeiro, but before doing so, the signal must be fine tuned by using the local antenna to test on the nearby towers. The test was successful. The only thing left for them to do is to transmit the data to an antenna capable of broadcasting the signal globally. During the attack, Convoy Yukon finds organic materials what looks like tank-sized cocoons under the old temple leading to Tijuca. Lynx collects samples for Doctor Zander.

The signal deactivates most of the Machines. Except for the towers at the center of the Anomaly. Here the strong magnetic plasma shield protects them agaist Shockwave's signal. By smuggling Drone Trucks carrying devastating explosives into the core generators, the shield is shut down, opening the main road to the Anomaly's core.

The Anomaly's core is kept active by two life-support systems. The Blue Nodes and the Red Nodes. It is up to the player to choose which nodes to destroy. If the player choose to destroy the Blue nodes, the anomaly dome will be kept active, sparing the Machines and the cocoons, providing Earth with a warm oasis in the frozen tundra. If the Red nodes are destroyed, the anomaly core becomes unstable and collapses, killing itself and deactivates the anommaly dome, towers will be destroyed, and the cold kills off the rest of the cocoons, but will put all Earth's surface into a declining winter for the next decade and eventually, the Earth stabilized itself overtime.

  • Fight across a post-apocalyptic world in a new single-player campaign that offers a more intense strategy experience than the acclaimed original.
  • Carve your own path to victory and create your ultimate battle squad. With over million tactical combinations to build your squad, your options in combat are nearly endless.
  • Dive into a beautifully rendered world, thanks to the team’s upgraded and improved visual engine.
  • Experience alternative endings dependent upon your approach to enemy machines in the campaign.

GameplayEdit

  • Much like its prequel, the style of the gameplay has been described as "reverse tower defense", "tower attack", and "tower offense". Players control a convoy of vehicles investigating anomalies around sections of a downed alien spacecraft, which are protected by various types of defensive towers that have to be destroyed. Players do not directly control the vehicles in the convoy, rather they set paths for the convoy to follow along city streets, while also dropping power-ups aid the survival of the convoy. In addition, players can purchase and equip a number of different units with varying offensive and defensive attributes to make up the convoy.
  • A new gameplay mechanic was introduced in Anomaly 2 - the Morph ability. Units can now morph into 2 different forms to suit different combat situations. There is a total of 5 available units and 10 if counting morph modes.
